Let’s park this result against a top German team , what will give a true indication of where we are is the match on Wednesday about what on paper should be one of the weaker Premier League clubs having lost four of their star players recently. Lose this and I think we are going to be in for a miserable season.

Pre season results mean nothing what irks me is Tim gets injured and his reaction is not to put Patterson on not to put kdh on not to try something different no just shunt Jake back to right back and get Keane on

It's the collective optimism I love most about the brand new season for EFC!

I think pre-season's been really well organised. 7 good competitive games, gradually stepping up the quality of opposition. I'm quite optimistic about the season.

There's a few things our season hinges on for me, obviously the fullback situation, not just right back but Aznou stepping up to push out Myko, getting Grealish back/someone else in/Dibling stepping up, and Barry upping his level.

The pre season I don't think has been terrible, and I think we'll be stronger in the middle with Norgaard, Garner another year experienced, Hackney and Rohl in the mix.

But its a big few weeks in the transfer window or I think it'll be more of the same - promising spells, some good wins, but overall a bit meh.

How hard can it be?
Solid mate. If Charlie Adam can’t do it…

We need a finisher more than any other position imo. We could create chances all game, only to see Beto shin it or Barry miss kick it or be dominated by the defence

Been saying it since Lukaku left…..then came the cry for a right back….2 major positions we’ve failed to replenish….

Barry's a way better player than Beto.

Also they got 16 between them last season, playing about half the games each. We'd be more than happy if one player played all season and bagged 16.

I think you'll see an improvement from Barry this season, and he should be looking for double figures (at least). Ideally 12-15. Also Barry was playing with a shoulder problem for the vast majority of last season, and he's had that sorted now.

He's a quality footballer who will score goals. Have faith.

Charlie Adam no longer set pice coach, set piece coach is Dave Reddington

Dave Reddington has been named Everton Men’s Set-Piece Coach in David Moyes’ backroom staff.

Reddington was appointed in the role in the final month of the 2025/26 season, having previously held first-team coaching roles at Crystal Palace and AFC Wimbledon.

He was also assistant manager at Danish Superliga club Aarhus GF and has an extensive background in youth development.

Think he’ll be even more effective with a quick wide player like Johnson running in behind the defense too.

More opportunities for assists plus the ability to feast on simple cutbacks and square balls.
