Re: Thelwell talking strategy
Even though Moyes has a history of being frugal with money we need to keep the dof model going we fucked our selves big time by allowing managers pick players can’t be going back to that shite

Apparently there is quite a bit of our new CEO Angus Kinnear in the Leeds FC doc on Amazon Prime.
“Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear is featured in the Amazon Prime Video documentary series “Take Us Home: Leeds United.” This series chronicles the club’s journey during the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons, highlighting their efforts to return to the Premier League under head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
Throughout the series, Kinnear provides insights into the club’s strategies and challenges, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the management decisions during these pivotal seasons.

Would be a big no from me. Buying players that don’t have resale value isn’t something we should be doing until we are consistently in Europe.

Think that's very black and white. Even players with no sell on value have a value in what they provide while they are here. So it's not just a yes or no. It's about cost. You wouldn't take a Richard Gough or a Gareth Barry right now?American Evertonian wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 2:39 am Would be a big no from me. Even in recent times resigning gueye might well be the difference between staying up and not

Re: Thelwell talking strategy
Of course there is value in some signings of older players. However the examples you give are very different than the one we are talking about. Resigning Gueye won’t hurt our PSR and the signing of Barry was on the cheap or may have even been free if I recall correctly. Those signings have minimal to no impact on PSR.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 5:42 am Think that's very black and white. Soucek is 30 and has a market value of €24m. That is not a wise signing for us when that could be used on a younger player that we could eventually get more for. So for me it is black and white when presented with those two options.

Wasn't the Barry one a weird transfer where we got him on a free but were supposed to pay a certain amount after the first year, but then it turned out we didn't actually have to but did so anyway?American Evertonian wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:44 am Of course there is value in some signings of older players. That sounds right, but then definitely remember we didn't actually end up having to pay it but still did to keep good relations with Villa.Bluebridge wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 9:47 pm Think it was a loan fee (£5m iirc) if we signed him permanently.

That sounds right. For some reason in my head I was thinking either he was free or £5m. That explains what that number seemed vaguely familiarBluebridge wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 9:47 pm Think it was a loan fee (£5m iirc) if we signed him permanently.
