Season Ratings
Season Ratings
Overall i'm giving it a 5/10.
Nice not to be involved in any relegation drama but ultimately we've gained one more point than last season (Moyes' PPG has worsened) and we're 13th as it ends. We went from talking about 5th place to not winning any of our last 7 matches. Although even when we were in with a shout of 5th I didn't feel like we'd been particularly good all season. Home form absolutely rubbish as well. Out of both cups early.
For fun, rating of players with 10+ appearances:
8 - KDH, Garner
7 - Pickford, Gana, Grealish
6 - Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Iroegbunam, Beto, Ndiaye
5 - Keane, Rohl, Armstrong, George
4 - O'Brien, Barry
3 - Mykolenko, Alcaraz
2 - McNeil
1 - Dibling

Re: Season Ratings
4 - but probably should be higher as based on the stats we shouldve finished in 14th, so I suppose it was a success!!!
As per Opta Analyst, 13th was not far off where Everton were expected to finish this season when looking at the underlying numbers.
Based on a model that simulates the number of goals scored by each side in a match based on xG, with each game simulated 10,000 times, Everton should have finished one place worse off in 14th.
Rather than accumulating 49 points, Everton would have had 46 points based on how games panned out.

Re: Season Ratings
Don't think anyone's been better than a 7
Probably have
Grealish, KDH, Gueye, Garner, Pickford and Branthwaite at 7
Beto, Keane and Ndiaye at 6
Tarkowski Mykolenko and O Brien at 5
McNeil 4
Barry 3
The likes of tim, alcaraz, Armstrong, Rohl George and dibbling its hard to rate cos they either didnt get the opportunities or the platform
Armstrong , George and Tim all showed good potential. The 1st 2 look like 7s with more chances and tim is anyway between a 9 and a 3 depending on the game. All have progressed though
Alcaraz I really liked but didnt play much
Dibbling an awful signing, did nothing when he played but its impossible to really rate less than 400 minutes of football
Rohl maybe 4. I don't think I see it with him

Re: Season Ratings
In terms of the season i want to say something really low like 2. Maybe the points and position is a 4.5/5 but the recrutiment and the lack of anything positive in the cups drag it down much lower for me
Im probably being really harsh because its all ends up in disappointment

Re: Season Ratings
Surprised Branthwaite managed 10 games this season, reckon his market value took a massive hit this season, certainly not talking about the 70/80 mil that was being talked about.Shogun wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2026 8:19 am Overall i'm giving it a 5/10.

Re: Season Ratings
5 could have been 8 if Moyes had the bottle to change it but mid table mediocrity it is

Re: Season Ratings
Overall a 6.
Pretty calm from a relegation perspective, which is still appreciated after recent years. However, had the last few weeks been handled better it could've been 8 or 9 if we'd finished 6th and in a world that became a CL spot.
8 - Garner
7.5 - Pickford, KDH
7 - Gana, Grealish, Ndiaye
6.5 - Beto, Iroegbunam
6 - Branthwaite
5 - Keane, Tarkowski, Rohl, Armstrong, George, O'Brien
4 - Mykolenko, Barry
3 - Alcaraz*, McNeil, Dibling*
*needs a greater sample size
Aznou for his 1 cameo in the cup - 7. Thought he was a lot of chaotic fun, bummed we didn't try him as a wild card a couple more times.

Re: Season Ratings
Overall 5 from me
Jp had a good season, some wonderful saves with the odd clanger 8
Mykolenko 4 ok doing his job in defence, but get nose bleeds passing half way
O'Brien, he's not a right back, but tried his best, more marks for his CD 6
Keane, slightly better than Tarks 5
Tarks 4 fed up with him not doing his job!
Gana. getting to old for what he is supposed to be doing on the pitch 5
Garner, Had a great seaon and apart from some minor things, he gets an 8
KDH, Best buy of the season and had a good term too 8 (I think he needs someone to work with him while has the ball)
Grealish, god I wish he could have stayed fit, he made things look easy and kept the attacks going 7
Ndiaye, sorry lads i'm fed up with him, he play when HE wants to, so that will be a 5
Beto, I really like this lad, he tries his best and runs his socks off, but he not blessed with a CF brain 7
Others
Iroegbunam 5 he needs to calm down and stop making silly tackles and he would improve
Branthwaite, how we needed a full season from him, skillfull, pace and has a great football brain 6
Rohl, nice tidy footballer, but needs more time playing 6
Armstrong, should have stayed at Preston, he's good with the ball and has a great pass on him, BUT 5
George, Not really sure he's £20 million player yet, but we never seen enough of him 6
Alcaraz, another heart and sole player, he;s direct and pacy and can score too, I like him 6
Barry, one absolute waste of space, terrible player, as much use as tits on a fish 2
McNeil, 1 good game a year 2
Patterson, He;s not that bad, played much better than Myko! if he goes he will get another club easy 5
Moyes, Hmmm if he can't change tactics during a game when he has plenty of good players on the bench, I have no idea what he is doing!
He will not play the younger players and if you ask why, he pulls a face like a cat that needs a shit but knows, he has a belly full of razorblades!
Never wanted him back and don't want here next season! anyway his score 2
Away fans 10 +++++++++++ they are fantastic and deserved a lot better
My players to Leave
Gana getting to old
McNeil
Mykolenko
Tarks or bench warmer
Keane (same)
Ndiaye, if he can't play each week the way we know he can, then bye bye
Barry, some French non-league club might be desperate enough?
Keep the rest and I would keep Patterson, Alcaraz and George
Ok thats me lol

Re: Season Ratings
6.5 overall.
Yes the flip flops were on when it mattered, clunkiness ensued, and blooding youngsters took a back seat to survival and consistency and standards. Listen to Merlin Röhl's mature, contemplative review of his extended time on the bench, and approach in viewing it as a time to learn and fuel for his desire to earn a place - you don't get free Premier League starts from Moyes until you have absolutely earned it. His favourites, the status quo, only change when its undeniable.
But we were clear of relegation at the earliest point for some years. Points on the board, ability to look forward.
And behind the scenes, a sea of moving backroom staff, ownership change, legal battles, backroom structures, new marketing, new products, new stadium, blue donuts and Budweiser :chunder: still having to coordinate the mountainous debt situation and plan for existence (thankfully) with what a less perilous financial position looks like, we've done OK.
The QE2 turns slowly and carefully on the river, but is in better shape than the titanic. These more nimble watercraft can zip around us at the moment, but when the seas get big and we're full steam ahead...
8.0 - Garner, Pickford
7.5 - KDH, Grealish, Branthwaite,
7.0 - Ndiaye
6.5 - Beto, Gana
6.0 - O'Brien, Keane, Iroegbunam, Tarkowski
5.5 - Mykolenko, Armstrong, Barry, Röhl, Alcaraz, McNeil
After success in Europe, Spurs and West Ham have since struggled. Villa(12th) and Sunderland's(18th) underlying numbers this season also look average to poor, and with an extra/more demanding competition how will their squads stretch? Same story for Newcastle, Forest and Palace who also struggled in the league with an extra competition this season.
Brighton and Bournemouth also now have eyes on other prizes. And then the 3 coming up... will they even have what's required to stay in the league?
Lets see how they go, but I suspect our squad, poorer than most of those above (not the promoted sides), wouldn't handle it either without a big injection of funds and quality players. Maybe lucky we didn't get there this time around.

Re: Season Ratings
For me it is a 5/10, there were some good results especially away from home like Man Utd but there have been some poor ones especially at the new home stadium.
Our drop in form in the last 7 games has been really quite alarming and a lot of the annoyingly traits of David Moyes from his first spell at Everton including playing players out of position when natural specialists were available, sticking with the same players unless they were injured, then the stubborn refusal to play some of the younger player.
The summer transfer window looking back wasn’t particularly great, only KDH has been a star, Barry has been very frustrating, Aznou invisible, Dibling pretty much binned since the new year, Röhl barely played until the end then Alcaraz has been ok at times but effectively a bench player.
I’m not sure if I trust the club to recruit properly in the summer especially with Moyes in charge. But we’ve been pretty shite when it has come to recruiting managers so I don’t know what the answer is moving forwards.

How is Dibling bottom of everyone’s list?
Always excited me and looked classy when he was on. Too often too careful, but he needs time to find his way into the side yet. Barely got his feet wet.

I honestly dont know how he could be anywhere but bottom.
Re: Season Ratings
Dibling doesn't get a look in, neither does George or Patterson with around 10% or less of the season played (less than 4x 90s).
Also:
Everton 1st half of season = 1.5pts per game
Everton 2nd half of season= 1.1pts per game
Yet Branthwaite's games (all in 2nd half of the season) = 1.5pts per game
Iliman ....with Grealish in the team (1st half of season) = 4 goals and 2 assists(1.5pts per game)
Iliman without Grealish in the team (2nd half of season) = 2 goals and 1 assist (1.1pts per game)
"Grealish is the catalyst"
KDH ....with Grealish (1st half of season) = 4 goals and 2 assists
KDH without Grealish (2nd half of season) = 4 goals and 2 assists
"Jack, who?"
Jake O'Brien played at Centre Back = 2.0pts per game
