15 – Gary Naysmith

Send image to my mobile Gary is an outstanding defender who first attracted the eye of Walter Smith when he was coming through the youth ranks at the Tynecastle Stadium.

A former Scotland Young Player Of The Year, Gary has blossomed into a determined and keen footballer, who, despite his young years, can cope with the most fearful of forwards.

A player who is comfortable at either left-back or wing-back, he has the ability to deliver accurate crosses and also possesses the talent to get himself into goalscoring positions.

A former Under-21 Scotland international, Gary has made the step up to the senior side, replacing his former and current team-mate David Weir as a substitute in a World Cup qualifier against Latvia in September 2000.

He has been a regular for his country ever since and even scored in Berti Vogts’ first win as manager in a 2-0 win over Iceland in October 2002.
