Koeman decision biggest test of Moshiri’s Everton tenure

farhad moshiriFor every minute that passes that Ronald Koeman is still in a job at Everton Football Club, Farhad Moshiri’s credibility takes a pounding among Evertonians.

Koeman was Moshiri’s man.  He was “the chosen one.”  And, like Gylfi Sigurdsson a year later, Koeman was the man that Moshiri spent weeks trying to prize from his former club.

Now, with Everton languishing in the relegation zone after the worst start to a Premier League season in 12 years, Moshiri’s decisiveness will define his ambitions at Everton.

There have already been questions over Moshiri’s ambition – and his financial clout – with some Evertonians focusing on the club’s net spend since his arrival.  But he backed the management team in the summer.

Everton spent around £145m in the summer and revealed plans on how to fund the new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.

But question marks remain over Moshiri’s ambition, and his ability to deliver that ambition.

Now it is his decision-making on his manager that will define fans’ thoughts on him.

With Koeman being the man he wanted so badly, will he admit he picked the wrong man for the job and risk losing a little bit of face?  Or will he persist and keep Koeman against the will of most Evertonians and face an even bigger backlash?

Arsenal fans jibed that Koeman would be “sacked in the morning” but most Everton fans at Goodison Park this afternoon hoped it would be much, much earlier than that.
