There are conflicting reports over the future of Sean Dyche as a potential Everton manager today.
Sky Sports News opened the day with the news that Everton were about to make an approach for the Burnley manager, but the Lancashire Evening Post hit back early with a morning (oddly) story that Dyche was not set to become Everton boss.
Whatever the truth is, Dyche is an underwhelming choice as Everton boss.
Yes, his Burnley side have over-achieved – by staying in the Premier League – but their ambition doesn’t match ours.
Everton’s board spent £150m on new players in the summer, and must match that ambitious statement with a managerial appointment to match.
