Allardyce made five changes to the side that beat Leicester in mid week as the Blues lost 5-1 at Arsenal today.
Allardyce stated, “At the Emirates, all 11 players have got to play at their best if you’re going to get something and, in the first half, no-one did that.
“It was a disaster and I have a lot of trouble with the players actually taking onto the pitch what we ask them to do.
“The longer I go on the players are showing so much inconsistency and I’m facing an uphill battle
“It was a pathetic first half performance.
“If a player plays like they did today then you’ve got no chance.”
He singled out new signing Cenk Tosun, who came on as a late sub, for not applying himself before the game, saying “His hold up play hasn’t been what it was at Besiktas, so that’s why he hasn’t been starting games.
“He’s finding it tough going like every player does, particularly when they come in January.
“He’s scored a lot goals in the Champions League but he hasn’t hit the ground running for us. I’m sure he will [get up to speed] eventually and hopefully by the end of the season he’ll be starting games regularly.”
