The former West Ham and Bolton boss has found himself increasingly out of favour with large portions of the Everton fan base with his dull brand of anti-football.
“I think I’ve answered this question a few times before,” he laughed at the press conference he was half an hour late for.
“I’m here for as long as I’m winning football matches. If you’re not winning then it doesn’t matter how long your contract is.
“If you win football matches you keep your job and can plan the future of the club.
“At the moment we’re in a good position. I’m a little bit surprised by the speculation to be honest.
“For me the away form is a long standing problem at the club, it’s not something that’s only arrived in my tender.
“It’s not something that we want but it’s something I have to remedy but it’s a long standing problem.
“We were close to a result at Watford but made one slip up and it cost us a point.”
