first goal for Everton
Well, just when it seemed as though the tournament was fixed so that we couldn’t possibly lose it, erm, we lost it.
In a bizarre turn of events, it turns out that tonights game was worth 6 points for the winner, after Everton’s 5-2 victory on Thursday was worth 3 points, even by American standards, that’s ever so slightly odd. No-one told us George Bush was involved in organising the mini-cup.
But anyway, with 3 subs on the bench, out of a possible 9, the squad was always going to be stretched against a side termed “the Chelsea of Mexico”, who seemed to have spent all their money on changing the offside rule.
The players fit enough to play, did so well, and Marcus Bent put in another energetic performance up front, partnered by James McFadden. Leon Osman again showed skillful moments, but it wasn’t to be.
Let’s hope Brett Angell comes up trumps in the Masters next month!
