Everton to swoop for Hamann?

The 31 year old German international is, according to the Independent, attracting the interest of our very own David Moyes. The player may be part of a summer clear out at Anfield as Benitez attempts to “rebuild” Liverpool. Undoubtedly in his time he has been a good player and I am told he played well when he came on as sub in some final thing on Wednesday night. But due to him playing for them lot across the park, this might not go down to well with some blues if there is any shred of truth to this story.

On the upside he would be on a Bosman and has a lot of experience, and may be swayed by Champions League football if Liverpool’s moaning and whingeing doesn’t pay off. However wages will most likely be a problem. At Liverpool he was on £30k per week, and Bolton (what a surprise) are prepared to match this. Something I doubt Everton would be prepared to do for a 31 year old. Not to sure about this one at all.

Other more exciting transfer news suggests we are after another Chelsea player. Mikkel Forssel is tipped to join Everton for £3-4 million, a player who has always impressed me. In season 2003/04 he managed 17 premiership goals before a knee injury kept him out of the majority of season 2004/2005. Forssel is skilful, quick, good in the air and would be a headache to any defence. It seems Chelsea fans would be very sorry to see him go especially for the figures suggested. The low price tag could be due to concerns over his long term fitness however, with his knee being the biggest concern. If he is deemed fit Forssel could be part of a £10 million deal which will see Forssel as well as Scott Parker as Everton players.

And lastly for those of you worried about the Arteta deal collapsing, don’t be, he will sign very soon. The Real Sociedad coach Maria Amorrortu explains; “…. it does seem that he is closer to being out of the club (Real Sociedad) than in, because Everton have shown their interest in signing him.”

Happy days
