Rumour Mills

New targets.

The people Everton FC have been linked has grown daily, some of the players most fans have heard of, some not. The latest include; Thomas Kahlenberg age 22 and Daniel Agger age 20. Both play for Danish team Brondby. Kahlenberg an attacking central midfielder is an international. While Daniel Agger a central defender is deemed a hot prospect for the future.

Shahktar Donetsk’s 25 year old captain Anatolli Tymoschuk is another which has been recently mentioned. The 6 foot defensive midfielder is a Ukrainian international, who are top of their World Cup 2006 qualifying group, though Shahktar Donetsk will not let him go for cheap.

Whether any of these names will actually end up at Goodison is known only by Moyes and God. The Brondby youngsters Kahlenberg and Agger were watched by Moyes last weekend so we know at least there is some interest. Both players played well infact and Kahlenberg managed to grab a goal obviously hoping to impress Moyesey in the stands. Though I would suspect if Moyes is interested he would not be prepared to break the bank to secure their signatures.

One thing seems to be very clear. Moyes is interested in bringing at least one central midfielder to the club. The Parker interest has been confirmed and hopefully the Arteta deal is sorted as soon as possible, preferably now. It does make you wonder though, if we are successful in securing the services of Parker and Arteta, who will Moyes start with next season if we are to revert to 4-4-2? I would presume like most others that Cahill’s first team spot is secured while Arteta has been most impressive and much better than his mate from across the park Xavi Alonso.

Central defence and left back are two obvious positions Moyes will more than likely bolster, with Stubbs’, Weir’s, Naysmith’s and Pistone’s futures all in the balance, it is not therefore a surprise that we have been linked to various defenders. Agger being one of the latest while Everton old boy Marco “the bruiser” Materazzi is another name linked. The 32 year old is well remembered by the Everton faithful, and possibly the only guy who would last more than one round with big Dunc. Though Duncan “disorderly” would still have him in the second. Honestly, I really can’t see this one happening.
