Believe it or not, Everton are linked with a deal to bring Marco Materazzi back to Goodison Park by “World Footballers” website.
The site claims that Everton are lining up the 32 year old as a replacement for only marginally older Alan Stubbs, who it is widely believed is on his way out of Goodison Park.
Materazzi played 33 games for Everton in the 1998-99 season, scoring 2 goals, but never really seemed to settle into the Premiership way of life – much the same as many Italian centre defenders, and left for Perugia for £3m, a rare profitable Walter Smith transaction.
Aggressive and good in the air, he seemed to collect cards like Neville Southall collected clocks, and spent too much time suspended for many fans’ liking.
Has made a name for himself at Milan, and will stay there.
