The Daily Mirror is claiming that Everton boss David Moyes will have to sell before he can buy in the January transfer window.
The paper claims that Moyes has just £3m left from the “Wayne Rooney kitty” after spending up to £25m on players such as James Beattie, Per Kroldrup, Simon Davies, and Phil Neville.
First out of the door is reckoned to be Marcus Bent, who interested Charlton back in the summer, before they found the Bent that could score, and also Manchester City, who were considering a £2m move for the striker, before buying Andrew Cole for a more reasonable £750k.
The possible retirement of Duncan Ferguson could free up some much needed funds, but only around £250k if he agrees to terminate his contract early – meaning the likes of Robbie Keane and Thomas Gravesen could be well out of reach.
