Rumours eminating from Scotland are claiming that Everton are already in talks to bring veteran striker Chris Sutton to Goodison Park, after last week it was claimed on the Official Site that neither David Moyes or Alan Irvine had even thought about bringing the player south.
Sutton made his name in partnership with Alan Shearer at Blackburn, and while Shearer went on to become one of the most succesful strikers in the Premiership – in goalscoring terms – it wasn’t until Sutton made the move north of the border that he found his scoring feet again.
Everton tried to sign Alan Shearer before he went to Newcastle, and having failed in that bid should have gone for Sutton, who is now 32, back then. Not every aging striker is as honest as Duncan Ferguson.
