We received an email today which sparked a bit of an internal debate about long service medal winner, Duncan Ferguson.
Mick sent us this :
I think that everton would be fools to let Duncan go at the end of the season.Even if it means putting him on the coaching team. Lets face it who would like to answer to him after a poor perfomance.Duncan is our hero he gets the fans going when he is just warming up and whrn he comes he gives the game a jump start to get it going again. Duncan plays for the name on the front of the shirt and not the one on the back. The rest of the team should watch and learn.
We’re undecided in the NSNO “office” – on the one hand Duncan has been a good servant to the club, and reminds us of winning the FA Cup, his aggression on the pitch shows that he cares, but can often cost the club dearly.
So, we’ll open it up to debate, let us know what you think of Big Dunc’s antics, and should he be offered a new deal at the end of the season?
Mail us at email@example.com to give us your opinions.
Update : We seem to have raised a point that is close to many Evertonian’s hearts, and have received the following replies about Big Dunc….
Think a coaching role would be the perfect solution all round.
Even hes admitted in recent months that he physically may not be up for it much longer but training and coaching would not be too strenuous and it would also stop him going to a club like reading for 1 season and haunting us like all ex-evertonians do!

I personally think that Big Dunc should be given the Managers Job with someone like Peter Reid being the Director Of Football upstairs.
Passion would get into the side, the same as Big Dunc, the love for the club will be there the same as Big Dunc and week in week out the fans will be behind him the same as Big Dunc. You cant buy love or Respect and we already have it in him. A True Legend.
I would love him to stay, I want him to stay and there’s not an Evertonian out there that would want him to leave.
I love you Big Yun!!!!!!!!!
whats the harm in putting big dunc on a 6th month rolling contract until christmas and see what his and our options our at the time, i do believe we can get another season out of him and i have a slight feelings he would play after such a disappointing season on his and the clubs behalf, also why not offer him a coachin role if he wants, cos id rather have him doing the pre-match, half time and after match talks in the changing rooms if we rnt playin to our full potential rather than moyes protecting his players when we play utter shite!

I’m sorry, but the sooner that Ferguson is off the payroll the better. He’s given me some good memories but how many times has the man let us down? He’s been a liability to the club and has made a very good living out of us in return for very little.
There are not many times in present day football that you can truly believe that a player loves a club but our Big Dunc is one such man. All the badge-kissing and chest beating we all have to endure with so many of the massive-pay-day merchants makes me puke. Duncan Ferguson is very much a
rough diamond but he genuinely loves EFC and despite his indiscretions, he still manages to excite the vast majority of True Blues just by jogging up the touchlline. Keep him on the payroll and keep Evertonians happy.
I think it’s time for Everton to release Big Dunc. We are not in a position where we can keep super subs. He should go, along with Davies, Wright, Carsley, Pistone, Kilbane, Mcfadden, Stubbs & Weir.
