As we revealed recently, Everton are close to signing Oldham “wonderkid” Scott Spencer in a deal worth up to £225,000 to The Latics.
Our reports, which were followed by wider speculation in the press, were widely denied by Oldham at the time, but reports today suggest that the teenager who has scored 29 times for Oldham’s youth side this season, has agreed a two year deal with Everton.
Oldham chief executive Alan Hardy said: “A deal has been agreed in principle with Everton. It’s now down to a medical and whether the boy wants to move.”
Spencer is not under contract at Oldham, and can join Everton immediately, giving him the chance to enjoy a full pre-season with the club.
