Arsenal have made a formal inquiry for Phil Jagielka, according to the Daily Mail.
Like Everton’s Arsenal’s central defensive partnership was torn apart by Manchester City last summer, but unlike Everton, Arsenal never found an adequate replacement for Kolo Toure.
Arsenal also face losing William Gallas on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this month, and allowed Everton loanee Phillipe Senderos to join Fulham on a free earlier this month.
Jagielka is a popular figure at Goodison Park and has seen his stock rise dramatically since joining for £4m from Sheffield United 3 years ago.
