Bob Latchford reaches another milestone today, some 33 years after he achieved his prolific 30 goals for Everton in a season, as he celebrates his 60th birthday.
The Everton legend, who sign from Birmingham in 1974 for a British record fee and went on to score almost 140 goals for the Blues, now lives in Germany, but will be back in the UK for belated celebrations next month.
Everton’s second most prolific post-war striker, Latch still gets back to watch the Blues as often as he can, and was part of the Everton Former Players’ Foundation 10th anniversary celebrations in November where he met up with 50 other former Blues in what was described by one guest as “like the coolest school reunion you’ll ever see!”
Described by Joe Royle as “dynamite” the former Everton striker and manager even showed videos of Bob’s goals to Duncan Ferguson to teach him how to poach goals inside the six-yard box, while Howard Kendall declared he should be remembered “as one of the greatest of all time.”
Bob has worked closely with NSNO over the past few years and everyone at the site would like to wish him all the best for today. Happy Birthday Latch!
