David Moyes is believed to be looking to bring Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard to Goodison Park in January.
Believed to be low on funds to spend on re-enforcements upfront, the Blues boss is having to look down the divisions to see if he can unearth another signing like that of Tim Cahill.
Maynard is out of contract in the summer, although he has hinted that he may stay, so would be available immediately on the cheap, or perhaps for free if Everton can convince him to wait six months for his chance in the Premier League.
