With Harry Redknapp long gone and an actual scouting network set up at Spurs, the Londoners have apparently switched from poaching our transfer targets to trying to steal the Everton manager.
The Daily Star, who are almost never, ever wrong about anything at all, reckons that’s the case anyway.
With Arsenal-tattooed Tim Sherwood making his way out of the club in a week’s time the red-tops have absolutely no idea about who will replace him and so have started their own guessing game and will label each guess as an “exclusive.” Until someone else guesses their guess first.
Roberto Martinez has made a real success of his first season at Everton and is building something at Goodison Park that will take longer than a year to achieve, and he knows this, and he’s prepared for the long ride.
A man of his word, and a man of integrity, Martinez won’t be leaving Goodison Park anytime soon but when he does, it will be for a much bigger job than that at White Hart Lane.
