Are We Heading Forwards?

Arouna Kone EvertonThe summer has brought some good business by way of securing Gareth Barry on a permanent deal and bringing in some decent squad players in light of a crammed fixture list with the Europa League awaiting us, says Robbie Potter.

But one question seems to linger.. The forwards.. Where are our forwards?

Of course Lukaku is the main objective and player we desire for the spot, but we all know the money may be too much for such a talent who happens to be so young too. So it is up in the air on what exactly our odds are on getting him. If not Lukaku then who?

We don’t have an impact player like Deulofeu who can come off the bench and do what he did this year, but it is more than likely with the settling period out the way that Mcgeady will step up and add extra production and creativity this coming season. So the midfield seems like as it is without serious injuries we should be fairly happy with it.

Up front is another matter. Kone we’ve seen very little of and when he has played he hasn’t been impressive. The only option at the minute seems to be Mirallas leading the line, which is not a bad option at all if he is on his game. But he can be very in and out, particularly up top. His delight at taking people on too will likely lead to him losing the ball a lot when he is up there out numbered. Mirallas is a great second option.. But who else do we have? It seems we’ll need a couple of strikers in the transfer window. Hopefully we’ll see Lukaku again in the royal blue shirt, but if not then who is going to score our goals?
