Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that the friendly against Leicester City tomorrow is not just a chance to get an early idea of what they could face on August 16th in the opening game of the Premier League.
Martinez has taken a young squad to Thailand to face the Foxes at the Suphachalasai Stadium and wants all of them to show they are ready to help the first team next season.
Players like John Lundstram, Conor McAleny, Luke Garbutt, and Matthew Kennedy were all give chance to shine against Tranmere last week, and Martinez says they will be given the opportunity again tomorrow afternoon.
Martinez said: “We are going to face Leicester again in three weeks so this will add that little bit of extra spice to the game, but for us it’s all about trying to find the competition for places.
“Some of the players have been participating in the World Cup and are still recovering so they aren’t with us. That means young players at the Club have got an opportunity to show how ready they are to be part of the first-team squad next season.
“We need extra numbers with the extra demands we have in the season, so there is real excitement.”
