More than 10,000 Evertonians descended on Lille in an Everton invasion that was described by the local French media as “a Blue sea, drunken, but happy” and Martinez knows that kind of support helps his team.
He said, “I have immense pride at seeing what we are as a football club.
“It amazes me every day, the day-to-day support we receive.
“Some families came without tickets and just wanted to be near the hotel and wish the players well.
“You get a better understanding of what the Evertonians deserve every day, and this trip will be an incredible memory for us.
“It gives everybody at the Club more strength to keep progressing and to keep having more nights like this in Europe, because that is what our fans deserve.”
