Only Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu have bolstered the senior ranks at Goodison Park since the transfer window opened two months ago – a fact not lost on Evertonians, who have become increasingly frustrated at the lack of new arrivals.
“We are very clear in what we want and what we need” – Martinez
Martinez revealed after the recent friendly against Villareal that the Blues were working on bringing in at least three reinforcements before the window closes in a month’s time, and stated as much once more in his pre-match press conference on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s encounter with Watford.
“There’s a real clarity that we need three new players and that’s what we’re going to work really hard on from now until deadline day,” the Spaniard stated.
“There’s always work done behind the scenes, that’s the nature of the transfer window. We are very clear in what we want and what we need.
“I’ve been very impressed with the young players but I think it’s fair to say we need to get some experience in that would help them further develop into what they can be.”
