Arsenal ran out 2-1 winners after two goals in two first half minutes, but Martinez said that Everton could have had more from the game had they been better with their finishing.
He said, “I thought we shot ourselves in the foot by giving away such an easy two goal lead.
“If anything, you’re looking at the way that Arsenal were not creating any real threat and as we know they’ve only scored one goal from a dead ball situation this season, and they score another one.
“In that situation you get put in a real difficult position but I really enjoyed the reaction.
“I enjoyed the personality and the desire in wanting to get back and from then on we had a couple of good opportunities in the second half.
“All in all, to find a way to get back into a position where you can rescue something from giving away a two goal lead it shows a lot of positives that we’ve got in the squad.
“I felt that at times we found it easy to get into good positions up the pitch but perhaps having a little bit more know-how infront of goal we could have used them a little bit better.”
