The South African has only made one appearance for the Blues in over a year, but is finally ready to get back into action.
His manager, Roberto Martinez, is excited to get him back into his plans, and the return of his partnership with Leighton Baines.
“It’s a really exciting prospect to see Steven Pienaar out on the pitch again and for him to enjoy his football once more,” said Martinez.
“It’s been a very difficult road for him and everyone is looking forward to seeing him produce the quality he can. It’s a special target for this weekend.
“He’s ready because he’s been able to work for a constant period. We had a behind-closed-doors game which he came through really well and we’ve been able to manage him on a one-to-one basis and now he just needs games and the opportunity to be fighting for his place.”
