Darron Gibson looks set to remain at Everton for the rest of the season after a loan move failed to come to fruition.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez had revealed that Gibson would be allowed to move away from Goodison Park temporarily in order to grant him first team football.
However, despite interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League and the Championship, the 28 year old will now finish the 2015/16 campaign with the Blues.
The midfielder had hoped to secure regular matches to secure a place in the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament in France.
But the former Manchester United player will now stay on Merseyside, and will likely feature as back up to Gareth Barry and James McCarthy in the absence of Muhamed Besic.
