Everton manager job race

Stubbs backs Koeman to become new Everton boss

Alan Stubbs EvertonFormer Everton captain Alan Stubbs has said that if he had a say in the matter, Everton would appoint Ronald Koeman as manager.

The former Hibs boss, who has taken over at Rotherham this summer, says that Koeman is the perfect candidate for the job, and that he is a born winner.

“I think he is the perfect candidate,” said the boyhood Blue.

“If I had a choice as an Everton fan, which I am, my number one target would have been Ronald Koeman.

“I thought a couple of weeks ago it wasn’t going to happen but you know how quickly things can change in football and if Everton manage to do the deal, it is a brilliant appointment.

“It is a crossroads for Everton right now but Ronald Koeman is the perfect choice to take the club forward.

“He is an exciting manager, he has done fantastic in the Premier League and his profile and demeanour is one that would really connect with the Everton fans.”
