The Blues had gone ahead courtesy of a wonderful Romelu Lukaku free kick late in the first half, but were pegged back by a Christian Benteke header early in the second.
Evertonians were unimpressed at full time after watching their side once again fail to put in a full 90 minutes of performance, but Koeman said they were up against a tough side.
“It’s a good point in the end,” he said.
We defended set plays and second balls well against a difficult team.
“The team performance was outstanding, although we’d like to create more opportunities.
“We’ve had a good start to the season. The position in the table is not everything at the moment and we need to improve, but we’re doing a good job.”
