The Blues have switched between Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenburg between the Goodison Park sticks this season since the departure of Tim Howard and a tentative move for Joe Hart petered out in the summer.
Heaton has been making headlines for all the right reasons at Burnley but Everton face competition from Manchester City and Liverpool according to reports.
During the summer, Everton boss Ronald Koeman said that he felt no need to bring in a formal “number one” stopper as he felt his goalkeeping pairing would be able to fight it out among themselves for the number one spot.
Now, however, after a series of unconvincing performances from Stekelenburg and Joel Robles still failing to fill many fans with confidence, the hunt could be on for a replacement stopper.
