Everton reject £16m McCarthy bid

James McCarthy EvertonReports are circulating that Everton have rejected an offer of £16m for James McCarthy from Championship side Newcastle United this evening.

The Daily Mail (yes, we know!) claim that McCarthy was the subject of the a bid from the promotion chasing Geordies but that Everton have rejected it.

Earlier this week it was reported that after McCarthy rejected a loan move to Sunderland, that the Blues decided that he would stay at Goodison Park.

McCarthy is finding his fitness again and despite being down the pecking order behind Gareth Barry, Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies, and Morgan Schneiderlin, could still have an important role at the club.

What do you think? Should Everton have accepted Newcastle’s offer?
