McCarthy rejects Sunderland move

James McCarthy EvertonEverton midfielder James McCarthy has apparently rejected a move to Sunderland, according to claims from The Times.

McCarthy finds himself down the pecking order at Goodison Park but after rejected a move to Sunderland, Ronald Koeman has reportedly said the Republic of Ireland midfielder is going nowhere this month.

The Irishman has enjoyed a few appearances of late under Koeman, and has looked like a player reborn since coming back from his latest injury.

However, question marks still remain over his fitness and he is continually linked with a move away.  With Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies, Gareth Barry and the returning Idrissa Gana Gueye ahead of him in the pecking order, it’s always likely he will be linked with moves away.
