A variety of online media are reporting that Everton left back Bryan Oviedo wants to leave the club.
Despite a few promising performances in his preferred position of left back while Leighton Baines was injured, the Costa Rican has been unable to establish himself under Ronald Koeman.
Increasingly on the fringes the 26 year old has failed to even to make the substitutes bench for a number of weeks. It seems clear that the Everton player is yet another who has failed to make an impression under the new regime. After a promising start to his Everton career Oviedo has suffered a number of frustrating injuries that have hampered any opportunity to establish himself. However, he seems to have found a sustained period of fitness but is still unable to force his way into the side with Leighton Baines returning as first choice almost immediately.
Oviedo is quoted as saying:
“This is the most difficult time I have had at Everton when I have not been injured. I’ve not even been on the bench for the past two months. The manager has told me it is a tricky situation, but said he needs attacking players – so I just have to wait.It is hard for me, as you never prepare yourself NOT to play. You want to be involved and taken into account. I think about the option of joining another club, where I could play more regularly. The problem with Everton is that I’m not playing matches.”
