Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori has added to the injury headaches at Goodison Park this season as he was injured on international duty leaving the Blues back four decimated following the latest international break.
The Blues confirmed the injury on the official website earlier today, saying that the Argentine could miss the rest of the season.
“It has been confirmed that the defender suffered a torn meniscus in Argentina’s 2-0 defeat to Bolivia on Tuesday evening,” Everton said in a statement on Thursday.
“He will have a surgical opinion next week but the initial diagnosis suggests the 26-year-old is likely to be out of action for the rest of the campaign.”
With Seamus Coleman suffering a double leg-break in the same international week, Ronald Koeman will be left scratching his head at who to bring into the back line in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
