With most of the national and local media picking up on comments made by Lukaku about a new deal to French television, we understand that there is still a deal on the table and that all parties involved expect it to be agreed before the transfer window opens.
Lukaku has two years left on his current deal, Everton are in the driving seat over negotiations as the Belgian will not want to be sitting around twiddling his thumbs in next season’s World Cup year and, just like we were told last summer, will not accept anything other than a massive offer for the 23 year old.
Negotiations have been ongoing with Lukaku’s agent since January and while nothing has been signed as yet, we understand that there is still a very lucrative offer on the table for Everton’s Premier League era top scorer.
As with all contract negotiations with World Class players in the modern era of football, there will be twists and turns before a new deal is signed, but there is still a firm belief that Lukaku will extend his contract at Everton.
