Leighton Baines

Baines: Patience is a virtue

Leighton Baines Third kitEverton left back Leighton Baines said his side knew it would be difficult to break Burnley down at Goodison Park but that they also knew it would happen if they remained patient.

The left-back was instrumental in Everton’s attacking play and said that the win was a satisfying one.

“A good win,” said Baines.

“We knew it was going to be hard and it took us a while to get going.

“But we got there in the end and it’s a good three points so we move on.

“We know there’s goals in the team.

“We’ve got to be patient as it can be difficult to break teams down, but we know that if we keep working hard we can get there.

“Some brilliant performances [today] and we all work hard and do our bit.”

He also said that it was particularly pleasing to see Ross Barkley get on the scoresheet and celebrate with the boys in the Gwladys Street End.

“It’s been a busy week for him,” Baines added.

“He’s had a lot going on but he’s got a great temprement, nothing ever seems to get to him.

“He’s a young lad who has been talked about a lot and he just gets on with his job.

“He’s really progressed this year which has been good to see and I’m pleased for him to get the goal today after the week he’s had.”
