The comparisons between Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye and Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante have been made since the start of the season.
While one was winning the Premier League with Leicester, the other was facing relegation with Aston Villa – and yet they were the two best players in the Premier League for their position.
Kante made a £32m move to Stamford Bridge, while Gueye saw his release clause of just £7m bring him to Goodison Park under Ronald Koeman.
More recently, Gueye’s form may have dipped, but the promise he showed early in his time at Everton has shown that he is potentially one of Everton’s best ever signings.
