Blues back in for Bacca

NsnoNewspEverton are looking to bring in Italy’s top talents in order to bolster the squad as the Blues push for a top four spot in the Premier League next season.

The Blues have sent Italian scout Carlo Jacomuzzi to speak with several teams about quite a number of players, but he admits that a move for Dries Mertens could be out of the question.

Carlos Bacca and Cristian Zapata are top of the list, but Evertno won’t be splashing the cash on both players, according to Jacomuzzi.

“Bacca and Zapata have interesting profiles, but [a move] for one would exclude the other,” Jacomuzzi is quoted as saying.

“These days we will talk with AC Milan, Fiorentina, Napoli and other teams – we’ll see if anything happens.

“We followed Dries Mertens and had spoken to his agent but that idea has now waned. Faouzi Ghoulam? Another dead end – he is now staying in Naples.

“The €25million that [Napoli president] Aurelio De Laurentiis asks for Zapata is too high, however everyone has the right to ask for what they want.

“Today we will have talks with several Italian teams, we talked with Milan, then we will also talk with Inter and Napoli.

“He could be an ideal player for the Premier League.”
