Everton have batted away “interest” from Chelsea who – not content with potentially handing over up to £100m for Romelu Lukaku – asked how much it would take to prize Idrissa Gueye away from Goodison Park.
Gueye was one of the stand-out players of last season, and pretty much the only one in an Everton shirt who enjoyed some form of consistency last term, making the Blues say they would reject any offer for Gueye.
Faced with losing Romelu Lukaku to the capital, Everton have put a line in the sand and will hope that their stance will deter other potential suitors for Gana.
