Everton midfielder Ross Barkley will miss the start of the season, whether he is a part of the Everton squad or not.
The Blues midfielder had an operation on a groin injury that has seen him miss the trips to Tanzania and Holland in pre-season for the club.
“The surgery has been a success and he is expected to be able to return to play in approximately four weeks,” a club statement read yesterday.
Barkley has been linked with a move away from the club all summer but his injury could see those links disappear until January.
Could it revitalise Barkley at Everton, though? He will need to work hard to recover from his injury, which could see his workrate improve and bring him back into the hearts of Evertonians.
