New Everton forward Wayne Rooney has rolled back the years in his second debut for the club and almost recreated the first goal he ever scored in an Everton shirt.
The 31 year old Evertonian bagged Everton’s first goal in the pre-season win over Gor Mahia in Tanzania today ensuring those who said he had lost his form were firmly quietened.
The Blues ran out 2-1 winners in the first pre-season game of the summer thanks to Wayne’s strike, which bore a striking resemblance to his first Everton goal 13 years ago against Arsenal.
A curling right foot effort from all of 30 yards, Rooney’s shot proved an inspiration for another youngster as Kieron Dowell netted the winner with an absolute screamer later on in the game.
