New Everton big signing Gylfi Sigurdsson says that is was fantastic to score his first goal for the club in spectacular style to put the Blues through to the group stages of the Europa League.
Sigurdsson scored Everton’s only goal of the night from 50 yards with a volley almost immediately after the restart for the second half, but says that winning the tie was the main thing.
“The most important thing was obviously to get the result,” said the Icelander.
“Personally it was fantastic to score my first goal for the club.
“I’ll be going home happy, that’s the main thing.
“I managed to get a touch on the ball and it was sitting up nicely and I thought to myself the keeper’s probably not on his line.
“I just went for it and thankfully hit the target and just managed to beat the keeper.
“I was fully focused on how tough this game was going to be and getting through fitness wise.
“I enjoyed it, the fans were fantastic and it was a good night for me and the team.”
