Everton’s forgotten goalkeeper Joel Robles says he will end his Everton career at the end of this season after deciding not to renew his contract with the Blues.
Robles, signed by Roberto Martinez after winning the FA Cup with Wigan under his countryman, has fallen down the pecking order since the signing of Jordan Pickford.
Aged 27, Robles wants to play first team football in order to try and make a case to be called up by Spain before next year’s World Cup.
“I am in my last year of my Everton contract,” he said.
“This will surely be my last season at Everton. I made the decision not to renew.
“It’s complicated, but it’s football. You have to be calm, keep fighting and wait for the opportunity.
“I have to be patient.”
