Hapless Koeman MUST go

koeman finger pointIn the thirteen years that NSNO has been in production, Ronald Koeman is the first manager we have actively called for to be sacked from Everton.

The Dutchman has clearly run out of ideas at Goodison Park and as he commemorated nine long months without an away win by scraping a draw against newly promoted Brighton, the time has come to call for his head.

David Moyes took us to some dark places – Bolton away with Jose Baxter coming on as sub – and Roberto Martinez lost the plot towards the end, but even he had a recognised Premier League goal scorer he could rely upon.

Koeman has neither the history or defensive attributes of Moyes, nor the attack-mindedness of Martinez.  A combination of missing skills made in hell.

Today Everton looked woeful against a side who offered virtually nothing.  The first half would have passed everyone by if it wasn’t mind-numbingly dull enough to make it feel like an eternity had passed.

But that’s nothing new under Koeman.  We have yet to be treated for a single full 90 minute performance we can be proud of in his 18 months in charge, and it is time to cut our losses and get rid.

There will – naturally – be questions of “Who do we get in instead?” but to be quite honest, until May, it doesn’t matter one little bit.  Give David Unsworth the reigns until then, and then test Farhad Moshiri’s clout and go and get someone who wasn’t riding on his predecessor’s coat-tails as Koeman was at Southampton.
