Koeman admits Arsenal were the better team

koeman outRonald Koeman has praised the way Arsenal took their chances against Everton in yet another humiliating defeat at home.

The Blues lost 5-2 at home and Koeman highlighted the sending off of Idrissa Gana Gueye as Everton dropped into the relegation zone.

“Of course the final result is really disappointing,” said Koeman.

“Until 1-2 we stayed in the game.

“OK, I need to say that Arsenal were the better team and had the better chances.

“But still at 1-2 you can get one point out of this but after the sending off it’s really difficult.

“That brought more space to Arsenal and honestly they have the qualities with several player to break you down.

“We had a good start to the game and we fought for everything in the first half.

“Sometimes it’s difficult to stop everything.  Jordan Pickford stopped a lot but that’s football and they have such high quality players.

“After the sending off it’s difficult to stay in the game.”

When asked about his position as Everton manager, the Dutchman said that “These decisions are out of my hands, but I don’t think it’s that bad.”
