Everton’s World Cup hero keeps on going

Jordan PickfordEverton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford said that he had to be ready to spring into action and help England into the World Cup semi final for the first time since before the young stopper was born.

Pickford pushed on from his excellent penalty shoot out performance against Colombia with a hat-trick of terrific saves in the second half, ensuring he became the youngest ever goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in a tournament for England.

“Great result,” said Pickford.

“We knew it was going to be difficult against Sweden, we know what they bring to the party and we managed it very well.

“You’ve got to be ready from the start, which I was, and you’ve got to be alert.

“After I’ve made that first save on about 47 minutes then that was me set for the game.”
