Pickford saves England blushes and shows critics why he’s England number one

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has shown the world why he is England number one with a penalty save to ensure the Three Lions make it to the quarter final in Russia.

England were pegged back by a late Colombia header which should have been cleared by Kieran Trippier before Jordan Henderson missed a penalty in the resulting shoot out.

Pickford, however, ensured that England didn’t come home early with a fantastic penalty save from Carlos Bacca.

After the match he told his critics why he has confidence in himself and why they should too.

He said, “I did all my research. I’ve got power and agility. I don’t care if I’m not the biggest keeper because it’s about being there in the moment and making the save and I was.

“It’s all about the set position and I got a hand to it. We knew we had this game, even if it had to go to penalties, we knew we were capable of winning.”
