Marco Silva’s Everton side will welcome SportPesa Premier League – Kenya champions Gor Mahia FC to Goodison Park following their victory in the SportPesa Super Cup final in June.
The match, for the SportPesa Trophy, will take place on either Tuesday 6 November or Wednesday 7 November with the exact date to be determined in due course.
In a closely contended final at the Afraha Stadium in Kenya, Gor Mahia FC emerged victorious from the eight-team tournament after defeating Simba SC Tanzania 2-0.
Having retained the title of SportPesa Super Cup winners for the second successive season, Gor Mahia FC will now travel to England to play Everton on their home soil in November to participate in what will be a historic fixture at Goodison Park with the Kenyan Premier League champions being the first East African club side to play in the UK.
Everton travelled to Tanzania in July 2017 to face inaugural SportPesa Super Cup winners Gor Mahia in a fixture that saw the Blues run out 2-1 winners. While in Tanzania the Blues, alongside SportPesa, won hearts and minds in the region when they participated in a range of promotional and charitable activities across Dar es Salaam.
Global gaming giant SportPesa is the Main Principal Partner of Everton Football Club and since the company’s inception in 2014, has seen dramatic growth as they have quickly established themselves as a significant investor and operator in the online gaming industry as well as setting up their European HQ in Liverpool.
