Former Everton defender Joleon Lescott has said that it is a lack of effort from the Blues that is responsible for the poor start to the season.
Everton have managed just two wins from the opening seven Premier League games, and were knocked out on penalties in the League Cup by Southampton last night.
Lescott spent three years at Everton and knows all too well how much value Evertonians place on hard work.
Joleon Lescott, speaking exclusively to 888sport, said “Everton haven’t started as they would have liked. Having played for them I know there is a level of effort expected from the Everton fans that they aren’t meeting right now.
“The fans then expect quality, and if the Everton squad shows that quality they wouldn’t get out-fought on the pitch.
“Everton fans won’t accept that there are teams that work harder.
“I’m sure if Marco Silva gets that work rate in there, he will win over the fans.”
