Everton midfielder James McCarthy was among players who took part in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Finch Farm this afternoon.
McCarthy has not played since breaking his leg in an accident against West Bromwich Albion in January, but was among several players on the hunt for fitness at the club’s training ground.
Yerry Mina, Andres Gomes and Benni Baningime also played in the game and could all be alongside McCarthy in contention for a place in the squad for the next Premier League game, against Crystal Palace.
McCarthy had found a rich vein of form before his injury and will be hoping to re-ignite his Everton career once again as he aims to impress new boss, Marco Silva.
